Chicago-based singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer Javier Reyes, may already
be familiar to some. Aside from being a member of modern psych-rock outfit Post Animal and
touring with indie-rock band Djo, he has been quietly cultivating his solo project since
self-releasing his debut album, Big Amigo, in 2021.
With his third and most recent album, Shark (2026), Reyes has assembled 10 self-described
“nice and digestible” tracks that combine the exceptional guitar skills he has been honing since
his childhood requinto with groovy basslines, sweeping synths, and an unpretentious lyricism
born out of impulsivity and staying true to one’s creative instincts.
As an ardent fan of music spanning genres and decades, Reyes’s musical style is fluid and
forever evolving, piecing together elements of bedroom pop, classic rock, electronica, and indie
folk.
