GIRL GROUP CHICAGO
A true “supergroup” in every sense of the word, Girl Group Chicago is more than just a “band,” it’s an experience. As they take the stage looking like a demure 1960s-era girl band with beehived hair and lips painted, they unleash a powerful “wall of sound” with a 1960s aesthetic – while they reclaim the songs as their own with a 21st century edge and a distinctive Girl Group sound. Featuring twenty of the city’s most talented female artists, with performers from many other established Chicago bands, Chicago Reader’s Music Editor, Philip Montoro, says about the group: “I’m sorry about every time I didn’t see them over the past year and a half…They strike the perfect balance between winking at the dated material and having a huge, contagious amount of fun with it…I’m in love.”
