OpenICE is a free monthly series by the Illinois Humanities Council exploring the work of the International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE) in an unpretentious and intimate environment every second Sunday.

Ensemble members perform and muse on various pieces from the ICE repertoire, after which a guest speaker from outside the music realm leads a conversation with the audience. This free series is the perfect opportunity to be entertained, educated and inspired, all before dinner and while enjoying a cold drink.

The event is free with an RSVP here.

November's lineup includes ICE's newest member, saxophone legend Ryan Muncy alongside ICE founder and CEO Claire Chase and cellist Katinka Kleijn.

The concert will feature a world premiere by Jing Jing Luo, a rare work by James Tenney, recent works by Chicago-based composers David Reminick and Chris Fisher-Lochhead, and a piece by Pauline Oliveros.

This month's conversation will be led by John Corbett of the Corbett vs. Dempsey art gallery.

"A bunch of new music enthusiasts and the just-plain-curious crowded into the back room of Hideout on Sunday evening to catch the first of a free monthly series of concerts and conversations ICE is producing in partnership with the Illinois Humanities Council. I was glad to be among them." - John Von Rhein, Chicago Tribune
