Bob Kessler
Bob Kessler is a harmonica player who’s performed with Dave Alvin, in the Ricky Ian Gordon contemporary opera version of “The Grapes of Wrath,” as a sideman for Whisperin’ Bill Anderson at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville and a member of the Chicago groups Bakelite 78 and The BlackWilloughbys. He’s bringing his many styles of music and musical friends to perform for the Tuesday Night Residency Series at the Hideout in August.

AUG 5:

Bob Kessler - solo performance featuring music from AMPLITUDE, an EP of original works involving music created with layered and looped diatonic and bass harmonicas.

Plus, a new collaboration with Yuri Lane, The Human Beatbox. Yuri is a master beatboxer who incorporates harmonica playing along with his rhythms. Bob and Yuri together will be performing jazz, hip-hop, funk and ambient music in a way not thought possible with just two guys, a pile of harmonicas and a couple of microphones (with a few electronic devices thrown in).

AUG 12:

The Western Ave. Suite. From 2004-2007, Bob walked the longest street in the world, Western Ave. in Chicago. Taking it block-by-block he created a photo series documenting everyday life in Chicago through a true cross-section of the city, far from its more scenic and picturesque features, but no less important and meaningful. Bob will perform original music along with projected images from the series.

Plus, a collaboration with bassist/cellist Weldon Anderson involving original music set to spoken word, projected images & video.

AUG 26
