Blaze Foley: Duct Tape Messiah
Documentary, USA, 74 min., Chicago premiere
Directed by Kevin Triplett
Blaze Foley wrote some of the best country/folk songs in history, but he also lived them: Duct Tape Messiah is the sad and funny story of this ragged, often homeless genius who left a legacy of drunken binges and failed record deals, but also of legendary friendships and music that only earned the recognition it deserved when other artists, like Merle Haggard, John Prine, and Lyle Lovett, recorded them after his death. In person: Gurf Morlix, Blaze’s longtime producer.

Tim Rutili (Califone) and Gillian Lisee (Fruit Bats) live
