Sávila
Sávila is a medicinal plant that grows wild in tropical climates all over the world, as well as the name of cumbia/latin/world/r&b inspired music and visual art project by guitarist Fabiola Reyna, vocalist/artist Brisa Gonzalez and percussionist extraordinaire Papi Fimbres. Since 2012, Brisa and Fabi have been exploring culture, activism, and the multi-faceted experience of being Mexican-American womxn and artists in the United States. Currently, all three members of Sávila reside in Portland, OR and are deeply active in creating and bringing together latinx communities through performances, art, and events.
Joined by Papi Fimbres in 2016, Sávila solidified their percussive sound and in 2018 were named best new band by some of Portland’s most acclaimed musicians, joined Shannon and the Clams and La Luz two seperate west coast tour in May, supported Bomba Estereo, Mdou Moctar, and Explode Into Colors, Y La Bamba, El Sancha and are currently on a consecutive streak of SOLD OUT shows in Portland, OR and beyond.
“Sávila is a band that can't be neatly packaged into a brand or traced to a curated set of influences. But rather than feeling like some inaccessible, abstract mass, their music feels like a warm embrace—the communal equivalent of self-care.” - Shannon Gormley, Willamette Week Best of 2018

Ida y Vuelta
da y Vuelta’s presentations come from a long tradition of Mexican folk music called Son Jarocho. The genre is a fusion of African, Spanish-Arabic and Indigenous music and poetry. Ida y Vuelta’s instrumentation is native to the Sotavento region and includes jaranas (8 string small guitars), requinto (lead 4 string guitar), leona (acoustic bass), harp, zapateado (percussive foot tapping) and they also incorporate the cajón peruano and cajita (peruvian box) for percussion reinforcement.

Ida y Vuelta keeps the spirit of traditional “sones” alive, which date back over 300 years. Performing this music they aspire to make known its rich historical and musical value.
