The Claudettes
The Claudettes
"A skewed cabaret band of jazz, blues and rockabilly…A sensibility that feels equal parts James Dean and David Lynch."--Minneapolis Star-Tribune

"A revelatory blend of jazz and blues, stirred with punk brio" --Greg Kot, Chicago Tribune

Pianist Johnny Iguana formed the Claudettes, who feature Berit Ulseth on vocals, Zach Verdoorn on bass guitar and vocals and Matt Torre on drums. Johnny, who has toured internationally with his own cult-favorite rock band oh my god, is currently a member of two Grammy-nominated blues groups: Chicago Blues--A Living History and the Muddy Waters 100 Band. Johnny has toured or recorded with Junior Wells, Buddy Guy, Otis Rush, James Cotton, Carey Bell, Lil' Ed and more. The Claudettes combine the Chicago blues-piano tradition with the energy of rockabilly and punk and the sultry sound of '60s soul-jazz to create a thrilling new spin on American roots music.
Baby Teeth
Baby Teeth
White Tonight, Baby Teeth's 2012 studio record documenting the indignities of middle age and the desperation of clinging to a fading youth, has been unavailable for the past year-ish on all major streaming platforms. (This accounts for that low-grade depression you've been experiencing.) Now, with a shiny remaster and a slightly tweaked album cover, it's back on your personal favorite streaming service. Naturally, Baby Teeth is having a blowout to celebrate this momentous cultural event.

This is the music to which you fell in love, got married, got divorced, and had your first seven midlife crises. Since 2004, Baby Teeth have been dogged by the question, “Are they serious?” So, to get that out of the way, the answer is: Hell yes. And also... Who’s asking? And also... Who cares? And finally... You can be tragic and funny and melodramatic and funky and buoyant and depressive on the same album, right? Or, is that breaking the rules?
