Want to know why the dinosaurs really went extinct, or why lichens live forever? Join The Field Museum at The Hideout for drinks and discussions about all manners of natural history with scientists who study everything from ancient meteorites to urban farming practices in Chicago. Every second Tuesday of the month at 6:30 pm. Tickets are $5.
Antarctic Dinosaurs - Fossil Hunting at the End of the World
Antarctica was once a lush, temperate land crawling with dinosaurs. It's a little colder these days, making fossil hunting there tricky. Meet Akiko Shinya, the Field Museum's chief fossil preparator, who spent this past winter digging up dinosaurs in Antarctica, and learn how she and her fellow scientists balance the pursuit of discovery with the pursuit of not freezing to death.
