Bill MacKay is a highly-regarded guitarist-composer-improviser based in Chicago. He has energized experimental folk, rock, and avant-garde scenes with his radiant songwriting, and creative and unpredictable approach to the guitar—via his band Darts & Arrows and through collaborations with artists such as Ryley Walker, Fred Lonberg-Holm, and many more. His recently release solo album, Esker (Drag City), is "a rich and easygoing reminder that the American guitar tradition is a vast and detailed one.”—NPR.

Ben Lamar Gay is a cornetist, composer, multi-instrumentalist, and vocalist who has been seen adding the color and energy to almost every high-profile jazz musician's ensemble's in town (Makaya McCraven, Mike Reed, . Ben's playing is extraordinarily and uniquely musical. Capitalizing on spontaneous moments of energy. Lamar deals with many components of sound through various folk traditions past, present and future. His view is heavily influenced by upbringing on the South Side of Chicago with his involvement in Association of the Advancement of Creative Musicians (AACM), and his time spent studying in Brazil. This December residency is a search for his "Americana".
