The Hideout Harmonica Hoedown
The 5th annual celebration brings together players from numerous styles on the world’s most popular, most portable instrument!

Joe Filisko is revered as a master player, teacher, custom harmonica pioneer, researcher and historian and is arguably the world’s foremost authority on many aspects of the diatonic harmonica and a key figure in today’s scene. Over the past 20 years he’s had a tremendous influence on the developments in all aspects of the culture of the instrument.

James Conway, a true innovative traditionalist, is considered one of the finest harmonica players in Celtic music in addition to blues, folk and other styles.

Curator, MC & harmonica colorist Bob Kessler brings his modern/avant-garde/minimalist take on the instrument, often using looping to perform unique arrangements live on stage of his original works.

This year’s special guest is the first time we’ve brought in an international player. The incredible Catriona Sturton of Ottawa sings like an angel, but plays like a beast. She’s a former member of the Canadian indie group Plumtree whose song "Scott Pilgrim" inspired the book and later the movie "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World." On stage she performs on guitar, voice AND percussion in addition to her amazing harmonica skills.
