Hideout Online presents a brand new viewing experience. Hideout Shorts asks individual artists to curate a night of short film works from other artists they admire around the globe. Sit at home with some popcorn and enjoy this unique Hideout experience.

Kathleen Judge is a multi media visual artist. She uses whatever tools are on hand to make some sense of the world, whether thru printmaking, drawing, film, video projection or sculpture. Judge has worked with many musicians, venues, organizations creating posters, prints, book illustrations, storyboards, animation, video projections and a lot of other fun stuff.

Tonight Judge curates an animated show bringing together animations from around the world under the Hideout’s virtual roof (aka Hideout twitch) to escape, transform, contemplate, laugh, cry, feel, rage thru animated stories and worlds.

‘TRAP’ (5.5 minutes)

SYNOPSIS: A film composed solely of stark abstract images animated with black lithographic crayon on paper. "The Trap" was inspired by a quote from holocaust survivor, Elie Wiesel's book, Souls on Fire: "I try to imagine my grandfather in the train that carried him away." Using the language of pure animation, "The Trap" articulates the difficult and disturbing sensations of that last journey.

‘MAMOON’ (6.11 minutes)

SYNOPSIS: Mamoon is a short, experimental animation created by projecting moving imagery onto a polystyrene film set. It depicts the story of a mother who is forced to flee when the light that illuminates her home is mysteriously taken away.

‘THE LIFE OF DEATH’ (5 minutes)

SYNOPSIS: Death goes about his daily job of taking the lives of animals in the forest, when one day, he comes across a lovely doe. He falls in love with her and can’t bring himself to take her life, so they slowly become close friends. In the end, the doe teaches Death that dying is also part of life.
