The Hideout Harmonica Hoedown
The Hideout Harmonica Hoedown
The third annual celebration of the world’s most popular portable instrument in one of the top “harmonica towns” in the world. Joe Filisko is revered as a master player, teacher, custom harmonica pioneer, researcher and historian and is arguably the world's foremost authority on many aspects of the diatonic harmonica. James Conway is a player whose innovative approach to traditional Irish and other Celtic music, blues, folk and many other styles has brought him international acclaim. The evening’s organizer and up-and-comer Bob Kessler has performed in productions at the Auditorium Theater, the Grand Ole Opry, with Grammy winners Ramsey Lewis and Dave Alvin, and Ricky Ian Gordon & Michael Korie’s “The Grapes of Wrath” opera at Northwestern University. This year brings special guest Yuri Lane whose inspired and original beatbox harmonica playing made him one of the first ever YouTube celebrities. He performs in the US and internationally.
