Donation For Soup & Bread At The Door

Soup and Bread
Soup and Bread
“Chicago’s most laid-back, nutritious party” returns January 8, and runs every Wednesday through April 16 at the Hideout, 1354 W. Wabansia. Each week Soup & Bread offers a community soup meal prepared by 6-8 volunteer cooks along with bread from local bakeries, in exchange for a pay-what-you-can donation to benefit Chicago-area food pantries and hunger relief organizations.

Each week of Soup & Bread has a theme—something to inspire cooks to new heights of culinary creativity. Want to get on the schedule to cook for Soup & Bread 2104? Check out the list of options below and then email us at soupnbread10@gmail.com with your preferred dates, or for more information go to soupandbread.net.

It's that time of year again -- time to celebrate the end of winter with, what else, pie! Tonight's the final Soup & Bread of the 2014 soup season, and in addition to our usual slate of soups, organized this time around the theme of "the Fields," we're having a bake sale. Donations of pie and other baked goods are most welcome; all proceeds from the bake sale go to support the general operating expenses of Soup & Bread.

Over on the soup line this week we've got a cast of 8 and counting, including chefs from Pizza Rustica http://www.pizzarusticachicago.com and Bread & Wine http://breadandwinechicago.com, Central Pickling's Ethan Fischer http://www.centralpickling.com, Soup & Bread regular Diane Galleher, Elise Martel Cohen, Cherie Hansen, and more to come.

As ever our bread is donated by the generous folks at Publican Quality Meats; our guest DJ for the night is the lovely Kim Soss. Pay-what-you-can donations benefit the Northwestern Settlement House food pantry at Augusta and Noble http://www.nush.org.
