The Lowdown Brass Band - (Set time: 11:45 PM)
The Lowdown Brass Band
Lowdown Brass Band (LDB), hailing from Chicago, is a ten-piece, horn-driven ensemble with strong roots in the New Orleans Second Line Tradition. A fierce sousaphone sets the foundation for trumpets, trombones and saxophones that intertwine in a cacophony of tight lead lines, spontaneous call-and-response and bombastic brass attacks. While taking a page from the jazz and blues giants of the past, LDB melds modern funk, hip-hop, reggae and pop into a unique new style. Lowdown forges new ground with original compositions that challenge the listener and player alike, breaking down the barrier between performer and audience.

The Lowdown Brass Band is:

Trumpets | Shane Jonas & Sam Johnson

Tenor Saxophone | Chris Neal

Baritone Saxophone | David Levine

Trombones | Raphael Crawford, Steve Duncan & Andrew Zelm

Sousaphone | Lance Loiselle

Battery | John Barbush, David Agee, & Mikey “lightning” August

“Get up everybody, clap your hands and stomp your feet – it’s time to get funky!” I kid you not, these guys woke me up with a tuba keeping the main beat/rhythm for the first good portion of the song. There’s no way to be lazy when somebody is working this hard to be happy. Fun fun way to start the week – thanks! Foot tapping or body swaying, doesn’t matter which – the week is started with a smile.
Wild Jesus & The Devil's Lettuce - (Set time: 10:45 PM)
Wild Jesus & The Devil's Lettuce
Wild Jesus and The Devil’s Lettuce Family Party Band is a community of musicians from the
Midwest with the uncanny ability to surprise you every time they take the stage. Having eight members who
all take part in the writing and arranging, Wild Jesus has an eclectic upbeat sound with family party band
sensibilities. As one might expect from such a strangely named group, Wild Jesus’s songs range from noir
waltzes all the way to effects laden, impressionistic, psychedelic grooves reminiscent of the big rock bands of
the 70’s. Wild Jesus has truly formed a community of like-minded musicians, friends, and family that fill
rooms with their traveling circus of band members, special-guests, and a host of ridiculous stage spectacles.
The Drastics - (Set time: 10:00 PM)
The Drastics
The Drastics are modern roots music. Their sound fits as easily in a Kingston dancehall as it does in an artist's loft-party in the warehouse district. Though primarily classified as a reggae group, The Drastics embrace many styles of music both live and in the studio. This can be heard in their songs which draw from roots Jamaican music, hip hop, hard-bop jazz, afro-beat, dancehall, as well as folk music from Asia, Africa, the Middle East and South America. Take this powder keg cocktail of styles, add the pulse of gritty everyday urban living and you get one explosive sound. Not playing into any gimmicks or compromising to trends ("The Drastics deserve much credit for moving deep into unchartered territories" - allMusic Guide) The Drastics have been consistantly rocking crowds for three years from NYC to LA and everywhere in between ("dub masters, The Drastics ... never fail to put on a killer party" - TimeOut Chicago).
