Saucy Lady
Saucy Lady
Hailing from Kamakura, Japan, this Boston-based vocalist, song-writer, and DJ is known to her peers as the "Beantown Disco Queen". Saucy Lady, a character with an attitude of fierce confidence and sensuality, aims to represent in her music what we've all admired about the Disco Era of years past especially the freedom of selfexpression and experimentation. Saucy Lady brings modern interpretation to the eclectic, outrageous fashion and cultural diversity that made up the nightclub scene in the 70s and 80s. With a touch of humor added to the equation, her popularity has been gaining steady momentum in the U.S. and overseas underground disco scene due to her successful vinyl releases and electrifying DJ sets.
The past few years has seen an increase in demand for live dance experiences beyond the DJ booth with groups like NYC’s Escort and LA’s Dam-Funk it’s no surprise Saucy Lady has performed alongside both. Whether on stage, in the DJ booth or in vocal booth, Saucy’s work ethic combined with her natural proclivity for the funk has given her a major edge in the contemporary disco scene. With a steady number of hot releases on labels such as Star Creature, Boogie Café, Dopeness Galore and more, it’s no secret why she’s a favorite amongst DJs and Dancers alike. Hear her live for a one-night only stage performance alongside Yuki Kanesaka on Keys, E. Live on Keys and Drums and Guest Vocals and guitar from K-Maxx.
K-Maxx
K-Maxx
It’s been almost 3 years since K-Maxx’s has performed in Chicago, last time being the sold-out Sweater Funk Part at The Empty Bottle. He laid down sick synth lines, shredded a guitar plus wooed the entireaudience with his Bay Area-Accented charm. Since then he’s kept busy with 12” EP Releases on Omega Supreme Records and Sound Boutique Recordings and a ton of 7” Singles on flamin’ hot labels like Tugboat Editions, Cherries Records, Bastard Jazz and Voltaire Records! His live performances have supported the likes of Dam-Funk, Leroy Burgess and XL Middleton plus headlined San Francisco’s Modern Funk Fest and Portland’s Is This The Future Fest? As a core member of Sweater Funk, no one knows better how to make a booty groove than K-maxx.
E. Live
E. Live
Little is known about E. Live other than he is an incredible producer and that is how he likes to keep it. Star Creature discovered him on SoundCloud and the records they have put out have become some of the biggest Modern Funk releases to date. Rumor is they are repressing his second single Do Me Like That / Flotational Device for a third time… just check the discogs prices! E. Live will be performing a short solo set but also accompanying K-Maxx and Saucy Lady’s live shows as he has produced for and with both these artists. I know this document may be getting long but definitely worth giving his tracks a listen.
Bell Boys
Bell Boys
Garrett and Adam both work at Chicago’s famed Gramaphone Record Store. Adam is a sick designer with a lot of album art to his credit. Garrett is a producer and DJ best known for a slew of solid Chicago House 12”s plus his nearly 7+ years of his weekly residency at world-famous SmartBar, first at Dollar
Disco (RIP) and now at world-famous QUEEN! Party alongside other residents Michael Serafini, Derrick Carter and the late Frankie Knuckles (RIP). Garrett and Adam formed the Bell Boys as a production duo focusing on using vintage analog
equiptment to make modern house and electro music. Folks took notice after their first release hit record store shelves as a remix for Chicago label Stripped & Chewed then again with their EP on NYC’s Discovery Recordings. They later broke out of the house scene with their 7” release on Star Creature of
“Intersteller New Age Electro Funk” which has been championed by funksters across the globe and was recently repressed due to ozone layer sized demand.
