Matt Baron worked in logistics sales for years until he realized cold-calling in business parks wasn't his calling. He decided to pursue teaching to share his love of learning with English and Spanish-speaking students (plus some structured time off to write and perform music!).

In his first year teaching for Chicago Public Schools, he began writing standards-based songs with corresponding activities to teach his ESL students as well as the general population of kids at his school.

This led to Future Hits, a heartfelt (yet secretly educational) band whose sound has been likened to what Yo La Tengo and the Velvet Underground would sound like if they started a band whose main audience was children, and more simply as "Death Cab for Kindergarten."

Since 2011, Matt and his bandmates Emma Hospelhorn, Ben Sutherland, and Nick Kabat have written nearly 70 songs, released two albums (with a third one slated for a 2017 release), presented and led professional development, provided Future Hits Enrichment programs in countless classrooms and after-school settings, and played shows in Chicago, San Francisco, New York, and even the Galápagos Islands.

We'd love to include you in the Future Hits story, so please have a listen and say hello.
Little Miss Ann
Little Miss Ann
In a great city called Chicago there is a 5'2 woman (thus the name) playing a guitar and singing tunes for kids. Ann Torralba, aka "Little Miss Ann" has been teaching at the pride of Chicago's Old Town School of Folk Music for over 7years.

"Little Miss Ann" brings a different sound and face to kids music. She uses her experience as a first-generation filipina-american woman, a former Chicago Public school teacher, mother, and band frontwoman to inspire kids with her upbeat folk rock music and positive messages. "Little Miss Ann" and her husband, Patrick Milani have made 3 kids cd's. Time Out Chicago has named Little Miss Ann one of 8 of the "Most Influential Kids Musicians" in Chicago as well as "One of the Best Things to Happen to Chicago Kids".

Ann's involvement in kindie music goes beyond performing, as she has helped to create popular kids music series, writes about all things kindie music for various Chicago publications, and she started the Windy Kindie Chicago Cooperative. She has also had the honor of performing with some of her favorite kindie musicians such Elizabeth Mitchell, Suzi Shelton, Charlie Hope, and Candy Band.
