In response to our President-elect’s repeated threats on our human rights, comedians and producers in over 25 cities are coordinating shows to raise money for the ACLU on Inauguration Day Weekend. WHAT A JOKE is a national comedy festival taking place inauguration day weekend to benefit the American Civil Liberties Union.
Expect a night full of Chicago's top comedians performing, with amazing silent auction raffle items donated by generous vendors available to further benefit the ACLU. What A Joke: Chicago is produced by Liz Maupin and Meredith Kachel.
Kristen Toomey
Kristen Toomey
Kristen Toomey is one of the top comedians in her hometown of Chicago. She has built a reputation for being a "comedy powerhouse". She is a charming, hilarious, fearless performer who attacks the stage with wit and brutal honesty about her life. Kristen is a favorite at Laugh Factory Chicago, has featured at Zanies, The Comedy Attic, Comedy Club on State and UP Comedy Club.

She has headlined the Chicago Women's Funny Festival and has been a part of the Chicago Comedy Expo and will be returning to the Expo to open for Eddie Pepitone this summer.
Along with performing close to 300 shows a year, Toomey is also a the first female producer/member of the nations premier comedy collective Comedians You Should Know. The collective produces acclaimed, sell out, weekly shows in both Chicago and LA. www.comediansyoushouldknow.com
Finally, as a fun side project Kristen and her best friend 25 years, (Actor Danny Rhodes) host a weekly podcast called BUTTHURT for the Laugh Factory network. It's available on iTunes.
Matty Ryan
Matty Ryan
Born and raised in an Irish neighborhood on Chicago’s South Side, Matty has been touring and performing throughout the country for years. His conversational delivery and deft takes on his burgeoning yet unwanted adulthood have made him a favorite at showcases and clubs throughout the U.S. An alumnus of the Second City, Matty has appeared at The Hollywood Laugh Factory, The Hollywood Comedy Store, The Hollywood Improv, Laugh Factory Chicago, UCB LA, UCB East, The Knitting Factory Brooklyn, iO Theater, Zanies, The Chicago Improv, and UP Comedy Club. In 2013 he was invited to perform at the TBS Just for Laughs Festival in Chicago; in 2016 he made his feature film debut with a role in “Who Gets the Dog” (nominated for ‘Best Actor’ in the 2016 Midwest Independent Film Festival), and also in 2016, recorded a standup set for MTV’s “Acting Out.” Matty currently produces Parlour Car every Thursday at Bar DeVille in Chicago.
Sammy Arechar

Born and raised in Wisconsin, Sammy Arechar is a bad boy. His sense of humor and his stage presence that is often described as “personified chicken salad” has landed him gigs opening for nationally touring comedians such as T.J. Miller, Matt Braunger, Garfunkel and Oates, Johnny Pemberton, Josh Fadem, Moshe Kasher, and Ari Shaffir. Along with festivals such as the Milwaukee Comedy Festival, NBCUniversal & Second City’s Break Out Fest, RIOT LA, Bridgetown Comedy Festival, High Plains Comedy Festival, the 2014 Comedy Exposition of Chicago, and the Limestone Comedy Festival.

His hobbies, along with telling jokes on stage, are looking handsome, seeing what’s on TV, and seeing what’s in the fridge.

Calvin Evans
Calvin Evans has been seen on Kevin Harts' "Hart Of The City" on Comedy Central, "Acting Out" on MTV. He made his acting debut on Shameless on Showtime and followed that up with a Co-Star role on Chicago PD. 2017 is looking very promising for this rising star out of Chicago.
Brandi Denise
Brandi Denise
Brandi Denise, is a Chicago Based Standup Comedian. Her style of comedy has been described as witty, saracastic and refreshing. She was recognized by TBS Just For Laugh Festival as a “comic to Watch”. She can be seen performing all over the nation at clubs such as Laugh Factory, Zanies, Laughing Derby to name a few. She made her TV debut this yr on Chicago's WCIU also her first radio appearance on WGCI. She is graduate of the Second City Improv Program, I.O. Comedy Writing Program, Annoyance Improv Program
Ghouldini
Ghouldini
Ghouldini is a Chicago horror host who was buried alive in 1954. He woke up in October 2016 and staged his soldout show, "Ghouldini Lives!" at the iO Theater. In December, 2016, he staged the soldout, "We Wish You A Scary Christmas" at the Hideout.
