HAIR: The American tribal love-rock musical is coming to The Hideout August 24-26.

Who’s ready to let the sun shine in? The Hideout is staging a five-performance production of HAIR - The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical on August 24th, 25th and 26th. The 1967 musical tells the story of “the tribe”: a group of bohemian, long-haired hippies opposing the Vietnam War draft during the Age of Aquarius in New York City.

Take part in this ‘Be-In’ when tickets for this limited engagement go on sale July 9th. Come for the sing-along musical numbers, the still-relevant message, or simply hoping for a reproduction of the famous nude scene.

HAIR is brought to you by The Hideout Players (producers Kate Urcioli and Rob Allen, director Sarah Giocomo, and assistant director Gabriel Wallace), whose 2009 production of Little Shop of Horrors was received with much critical applause; TimeOut Chicago praised the musical for successfully blending “a curiously infectious barroom-meets-community-theater vibe with a high level of artistic accomplishment.” Nothing less should be expected from this next undertaking, as is evident in their recruitment of musical director Bobby Conn. Conn will lead a live ‘pit band’ featuring beloved Chicago musicians Ronnie Kuller (Mucca Pazza, Ami Saraiya & The Outcome, Daniel Knox), Paul Brannon (Mucca Pazza, Ssion), and Paul Parts (Daniel Knox).
