Honey & Buffalo

Maggie Schultz and Kennedy Greenrod are Honey and Buffalo. Two very different
voices conspire to complement each other, like french-fries and ketchup; a shot and
a beer; unagi and wasabi.
Named for their favorite Polish vodka, Zubrovka—flavored with honey and Bison
grass—the collaboration breeds songs that are sweet, dark, funny, and strange.
Honey and Buffalo drape silky, raw, red flesh over a sparse, largely acoustic
skeleton.
What of this music? Chicago shack? A lovechild of the artist formerly known as
Prince and Lucinda Williams? A blend of folk, country and soul for all y’all, super-
achievers, hillbillies, barflies, Wisconsin cheese baronets, scribblers, dreamers,
whale-chasers, office scriveners, neutron accelerators, and theater types.
Maggie was singing before they cut the cord and she had her first gig at the tender
age of 6. Today, she is a big fan of Jimmy Reed, Etta James, volleyball, and vodka
martinis.
Kennedy is the lead singer/writer for Chicago stalwarts The Thin Man. He enjoys the
fern room at Garfield Park Conservatory, pinstriped suits and shepherds pie.
