Hey Hey Everyone,
We are going to finish out 2012 with six amazing concerts in a row! Below are all the details and ticket links for this remarkable run of shows…
New Years Eve at The Hideout! Yes, it’s happening and we hope you can join us!
On Monday December 31st we are so very proud to present The Eternals Espiritu Zombi Group + Guest. The spirit of the past Eternals sound is present in the larger group but the expanded version allows the music to have a completely new vibe as explosive and delicate moments reside next to each other. The core Eternals members Damon Locks and Wayne Montana with their comrade and trio drummer Areif Sless-Kitain will be joined by Jason Adasiewicz on vibes, Matt Lux on bass, Josh Berman on coronet, Manny Bances on flute & percussion, Nick Mazzarella on Saxophone, and Jeanine O’Toole on background vocals.
Sunday the 30th we are elated to host what is becoming one of the great Hideout holiday traditions, an ultra rare appearance by The Flat Five. This year they will only be doing one lonnnnng marathon show so, we highly recommend getting tickets in advance here since they’ve sold out each year in the past. For those of you unfamiliar with this insanely talented group of musicians the Chicago Reader said, “Calling them a cover band hardly does them justice: they’re a supergroup of talented performers associated with Chicago’s alt-country scene—Kelly Hogan, Nora O’Connor, Scott Ligon, K.C. McDonough, and Gerald Dowd—and they’re writing their own definition of what a standard should be as they have a blast interpreting a genre-defying mix of folk, jazz, soul, and soft rock.”
Saturday the 29th we couldn’t be happier to see Jonathan Toubin armed with his stellar collection of soul 45s and back behind the turntables after his tragic accident last year! He’s returning to The Hideout to present his ridiculously fun Soul Clap & Dance Off Contest! This is one of the best dance parties on the planet and we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention that you can win $100 if you shake your ass better than anyone else! We will also be announcing a very special guest for this show in the coming weeks!
Friday the 28th we’ve got Ezra Furman & his band + Guest. This is the second year in a row that Ezra and the fellas are bringing their evocative and rocking sounds to the Hideout during the holidays as sort of a homecoming gig since moving to Brooklyn.
Wednesday the 26th and Thursday the 27th the Immediate Sound Series presents one of the greatest Chicago free-jazz groups ever, DKV Trio – Hamid Drake on drums, Kent Kessler on bass, Ken Vandermark on reeds — who return to the Hideout for two nights this year! They will be celebrating the release of their new box set “Past Present” out on Not Two Records and have them for sale at the shows as well.
Thank you all so much for all the continued support you’ve showed us this year and we sincerely hope you can join us for some of these extra special shows as we see 2012 come to a close.
