Hey, hot stuff!
This Wednesday, July 6, were hosting a last-minute, one-off, seat-of-the-pants Soup & Bread to benefit a place dear to our hearts: The Garfield Park Conservatory. The Conservatory was seriously damaged by hail on June 30; an estimated 13,000 panes of glass throughout the greenhouses were shattered by the golf balls of ice that rained from the sky that night. Above, the turtles in the Conservatory’s Fern Room gather on their rock to assess the damage to their pond. Note surrounding carpet of shattered glass.
There’s a whole lot more information here, on the Soup & Bread blog. But what you really need to know is this: 5:30-8 PM; the Hideout; DJ Michael Slaboch; no cover; kids are welcome. We will be serving COLD SOUP ONLY, from a wide range of donors including our pals at Swim Cafe and the good people at Inspiration Kitchens, around the corner from the Conservatory in Garfield Park. Bread generously provided by La Farine Bakery.
All proceeds benefit the Garfield Park Conservatory.
